[SOLD OUT]

This workshop proposes an approximation to an ecology of attention in relation to artistic practice of sound. It explores politics and aesthetics of attention through the audible, and the ways in which these interrelate with how we listen and make sound.

The extent to which we pay attention to something reflects the extent to which we consider it
valuable or relevant. Attention is therefore closely tied to questions of value, representation,
normativity, audibility, and perception. How can we shift away from dominant regimes of attention towards emancipatory, embodied modes of attention through sound?

In the form of an open laboratory, we will read and reflect on ideas of attention, listen to sounds, and experiment with acoustic and electronic synthesis techniques that bring forward aspects of embodied perception. We will also engage in sound-making practices that allow us to test and experience these ideas collectively.
