The following year we returned to the Estufa Fria to reflect on the impact on the sound environment of migrations caused by effervescent human activity. People, animals, plants and sounds are constantly migrating, moving from one side to the other, silencing or transforming soundscapes along the way. In some cases, they never again find a place to belong. In others, they manage to adapt and become naturalized.
The greenhouse is an example of good reception practices by protecting migrant plant species in a controlled atmosphere, at the same time being influenced by the behaviour of each one of them. It was this symbology that set the tone for this year’s edition.
In this edition, Lisboa Soa hosted one of the biggest sound art festivals in the world, the “Tsonami” in Chile, with 3 Chilean artists who worked in artistic residency at Estufa Fria. In December of that year, Lisboa Soa participated in the sound art meeting promoted by Tsonami, in Chile, in an atmosphere of social revolt, a meeting that sought to reflect on the role of sound art in crisis contexts. Little would we know that a few months later the entire world would face one of the greatest global crises of our time.
