In the 5th edition, the Municipality of Lisbon invited Lisboa Soa to integrate the celebrations of the year in which Lisbon was the Green Capital of Europe.
As always, the program began to be worked out meticulously long in advance, involving time and research in the extraordinary space that would host us. In March 2020, when COVID-19 invaded our life, it became clear that the program that was planned could not be developed, not only because the location provided was closed, but the context itself was too overwhelming for us to remain indifferent to it. The 2020 program was then completely redesigned and for the first time the curatorial logic was reversed. Instead of starting from place to the works, we took the opposite path, and from the works, we went looking for the ideal spaces to welcome them. Artists adapted their works to the spaces they occupied, taking into account their acoustic, architectural or environmental properties.
Spaces such as the Sinel de Cordes Palace, the Santa Clara Market, the National Pantheon, garage and terrace from EPAL on Avenida da Liberdade, the Estufa Fria, the Mãe d’Água, the Goethe garden, the Monumental Gallery, the Jardim do Torel or Campo Mártires da Pátria received the various installations and performances that we programmed in what became our biggest edition ever in terms of the number of artistic proposals.
