Tapada das Necessidades is a huge garden with 10 hectares located between Alcântara and Estrela. Here, ducks, peacocks and geese are the kings of the territory. The exotic, monumental and rare vegetation includes a magnificent lotus boulevard, one of the oldest gardens of cacti in Europe, ancestral dragon trees, carob trees, wild olive trees, oaks and many other species. There are lakes, viewpoints and various corners, historic buildings, such as the Casa do Fresco or the circular Greenhouse in wrought iron and glass that served as a winter garden in the 19th century and which today is empty of exotic plants, but full of reverberations. This greenhouse has extraordinary acoustics for concerts that explore the performative possibilities of the temporal and dynamic nature of sound in its relationship with that unique space.
